Slovenia is one of the places I'd love to visit, a totally different take on European holidays

I've been to Bled, it was beautiful-

The castle is not in the middle of the lake, it is on a cliff overlooking the lake, the island has a tiny church on it - make sure you ring the bell in the church for good luck!

Slovenia is incredible! There are many many more beautiful, and less touristy places than Bled, though!

Being of Slovenian descent, and the fact that my family is from the town of Bled, going to Lake Bled was a magical experience. I recommend the trip to anybody, Slovenian or not.

Great pics of this breathtaking landscape. I've been to Bled 2 times already, always combined it with a visit to Europe's coolest festival,
the Metal Camp in Tolmin / Slovenia.

The whole area of the Triglav national park is absolutly stunning. Really one of the most beautiful places of Europe.

    Kind Regards,
    Andreas

I went to Slovenia in 2008 with my mother and brother, on a heritage tour of sorts (our ancestors are from Slovenia). We went to Bled and had a wonderful time soaking in the beauty. My brother, an avid cyclist, took his bike on a many-hour ride around the surrounding mountains, and said it was a great ride. Dinner at a restaurant by the lakeside was very nice. Picked up some goods sold by local artists, now they're keepsakes of the trip. Loved Ljubljiana, too! And, also not to miss is Piran on the coast. Ptuj in eastern Slovenia was very interesting as well. Loved Lasko beer, wish they'd export it to the U.S.!
